Our vintage/undiscovered white and black film festival continues as we hit the high seas in Forbidden Cargo (1954)!
Plot: “Inspector Michael Kenyon (Nigel Patrick) is a Narcotics Agent who, with the aid of a titled bird-watcher attempts to trap a brother and sister drug smuggling team.”
Cast:
Jack Warner … Maj. Alec White
Nigel Patrick … Insp. Michael Kenyon
Elizabeth Sellars … Rita Compton
Terence Morgan … Roger Compton
With that, let’s get to it!
Hrmm. Climb right over the fence onto the, “Private,” beach. Good thing we don’t know anyone who would do a thing like that lol
Pinky ring.
Aaand, fake scenery, with doubles on location.
Rare/endangered birds nest there making it quite serious indeed.
So naval personnel are involved.
He has the name of the ship, and, it was in the area. The question then is, who, is doing what there? The plot tells us.
Here they come.
I do believe, that’s Joyce Grenfell as the bird watcher Lady Flavia Queensway. She and our lead are fun together. It’s a British film though so anything can happen.
So they’re doing something at an old base, but what?
Into the base we/he goes. What were they hiding?
It’s intriguing, whatever’s going on lol
So, they have military equipment & uniforms & are using 2 decommissioned bases for smuggling. It certainly is different, not to mention compelling.
Another pinky ring.
He had an, “Accident.”
Best of all, it’s quite different, which I love 🙂
So that’s the top billed Warner, though Patrick’s had far more screen time thus far.
So, they take turns reminding/showing one another the little things they keep forgetting & get along like the proverbial old married couple.
You know, I don’t recall ever seeing that in a film before. After watching one another via binoculars, our leading lady swims/scuba dives over to his launch, then literally and physically rocks said launch from below lol
Somber music indeed. How about something lively?
As she says, “Children. Children.”
Another pinky ring.
I’m enjoying this 🙂 it’s holding my attention 🙂
We know what’ll happen here….
Yep. It’s the symbol from the envelope.
Another pinky ring.
It’s too early in the film. I’m guessing they won’t find anything that isn’t supposed to be there.
Oh wow. They even show the ship passing through London Bridge. Very cool.
Drug sniffing dogs would give it away. We can’t have that lol
Ingenious.
Yep.
This is different. I’m impressed.
Because they’re looking inside the ship….
We however have close to 20 minutes remaining….
Double decker bus. Fun.
Hurrah for doing the sensible thing, at last.
It certainly is dark, in the dark lol
Nope.
That as they say is that….
The bird watching lady returns!!!
Well there we go. I’ll just imagine they lived happily ever after ~
I rather enjoyed that 🙂
