People Will Talk (1951)

Filed under: Uncategorized — bethelighthouse @ 5:05 pm

Cary Grant Weekend continues with People Will Talk (1951)! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaXfBmj-YzI Jeanne Crain is our leading lady & we also have Hume Cronyn and these other people lol “Dr. Noah Praetorius falls in love with Debra, a student who finds out that she is pregnant by her old boyfriend.” White and black, I have never seen this so let’s get to it!

Right. 1951. Pre widescreen….

Hey, 20th Century Fox again!

Hey, Darryl Zanuck! It’s like seeing, “Herbert J. Yates,” on a Republic picture though, it’s obvious lol

Enter Cronyn!

Oh wow. This is fascinating. So, Cronyn’s new housekeeper, played by Margaret Hamilton, worked for Grant when he was a doctor way back when. She’s basically detailing, how he used the Law of Attraction to help people heal themselves. Very cool.

Right! I knew she looked familiar! Margaret Hamilton was The Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz (1939).

Enter our leading lady!

Dr. Praetorius is incredibly famous, and lectures at the University our story takes place at. In the most unique comment I have ever made in a review, the woman playing the cadaver (Carol Varga) is a master of being still/is outstanding!

We’ve seen Jeanne Crain in a western. Right, City of Bad Men (1953) (and several other things)! Back to our film!

Haha!

Ah, Dr. Praetorius runs his own clinic.

He also has a silent assistant – Shunderson.

Best of all, he’s a true master of making people feel good – a true master of the Law of Attraction.

She’s pregnant out of wedlock/the father was killed in Korea….

What an interesting premise….

Wow.

The surprises keep coming as Shunderson finally speaks….

The doctor’s also a conductor, leaving one to wonder what he can’t do lol

His point is well made. The good doctor can master anything he chooses to!

We do however have a great deal of tension approaching….

So, Shunderson and the good doctor go way back….

Wow. He doesn’t just have a clinic, he has a miniature hospital!

Wait, what?

Hunh. Most of his patients are female….

Hmm. Wow. Supreme bonus points for all of the Law of Attraction/Abraham-Hicks style teachings and incredible wisdom.

We’re even on location!

🙂

Wait. Wait. Right! Finlay Currie, who plays Shunderson, was Balthasar in Ben-Hur (1959)! Back to our movie!

So, Mr. Shunderson is more of a sidekick who helps lol

Enter Will Wright and his 226 acting credits.

Man, this is different! Best of all, it has my attention. We however are due for a shift….

🙂

Haha, called that! That most certainly is the direction our film is going 🙂

What an awesome little film 🙂

Lol there’s our major shift.

Haha! YES! 🙂

Oh wow!

Crain is simply fantastic! I daresay she’s the star of our movie!

🙂

Holy! Three concurrent trains on a set that spans who knows how many rooms lol

Yeah, that was….

Hunh. Wow….

Yep. Omega shift indeed….

Talk about having my attention!

🙂

YES!!!

HAHAHA!!!

What a fun picture! So many outstanding things & it’s so different & fun & unusual lol it is delightful! What a joy and pleasure to watch 🙂

Cue the witch hunt….

Hunh. Wow. They’re basically attempting to fight the Law of Attraction and belief in it lol

🙂

Hunh. WOW. Just plain wow!

HAHA! YES!

Awesome, awesome, awesome!

Simply incredible!

At the one hour mark, with 50 minutes to go, I paused the film to do like I did in our previous film to write, you know what Jack Buck would say! 🙂 it’s fun leaving that comment for the end though 🙂

Highly, highly, highly, highly, highly, highly, recommended! If you see one film, see People Will Talk (1951)!! That’s a winner!
